The Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer was created as a special purpose vehicle for the

actualisation of job and wealth creation under the S.M.A.R.T agenda.

 

The administration of His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, came into office with the bold promise of Prosperity for all Deltans hinged on a five-point agenda known as S.M.A.R.T.

The Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer was created as a special purpose vehicle for the actualisation of job and wealth creation under the S.M.A.R.T agenda. To this end, the State Government, through the Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer, has launched job and wealth creation scheme comprising the following programmes:

1. Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP);

2. Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP);

3. Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP);

4. Development of Agro-Industries; and

5. Microcredit.

The job and wealth creation scheme has been tagged OkowaPlus because ofits potential to imbue the participants with life skills, develop their leadership qualities, increase their personal effectiveness and harness their productive potentials. View Brochure

 

WHAT WE DO

 

The scheme is driven by the need to create jobs and wealth, diversify the economy, engage youths in productive enterprises,

nurture entrepreneurs and leaders, and promote communal peace and security.

 

Planning

The scheme is as a result of rigorous and comprehensive planning in collaboration with private sector practitioners and stakeholders.

 

Training

Youth training and development is all-round. It includes life skills and mind-set change, vocational/technical skills, entrepreneurship and leadership.

 

Mentoring

Mentoring is incorporated into the scheme to ensure that participants succeed.

 

Monitoring

The scheme has a strong monitoring and tracking system to ensure the achievement of desired results and sustenance of the benefits.

 

Implementing

There are codes of conduct that will guide all participants, facilitators and partners to ensure harmony and effective implementation.

 

Communicating

There is a web-based (online) social networking and public communication forum for experience sharing, information exchange and peer motivation among the participants.
