OMOEFE UCHE GODSWILL hails from Emu-Obedeti in Ndokwa West Local Government Area. She attended the University of Port Harcourt where she obtained a BSc. in Agricultural Economics 2012. She was unemployed till she got enrolled in the State Government’s Graduate Employment Enhancement Programme (GEEP) in 2017 and was retained by IMC Palm Plantation, Nsukwa after a six-month internship. She is a farmer manager, a consultant to farmers in oil palm development and is now married with a child.
Hear her, “I am a beneficiary of GEEP. I was linked with IMC Limited by the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau to work as a Plantation Supervisor. Since then, I have developed my skill in oil palm management and development.
“I have gained lots of experience in the oil palm sector through this programme. Without this programme, maybe I would still be jobless after my graduation from the university in 2012.
“This programme has helped tremendously by giving me practical experience especially in the field of Agriculture which is my career path. I have undergone series of trainings in IMC Plantation Limited on oil palm management, also in human resource management among others.
“I appeal to the State Government to continue linking graduates to companies where they can make meaningful impact and develop their managerial skills.
“I have acquired two acres of land which I want to develop into oil palm plantation. I look forward to getting an agricultural loan from the government to achieve my aim.”
